Sobre el proyecto
Supplies for Success is a nonprofit founded by Mindy Richenstein with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that no child begins the school year without the tools they need to succeed. Founded in 2002, the organization has grown from providing backpacks to just 68 children in its first year to reaching more than 40,000 children annually, with over 250,000 disadvantaged students receiving new, age-appropriate school supplies. Through a network of volunteers, donors, and community partners—including schools, shelters, churches, synagogues, and social service organizations—Supplies for Success provides filled backpacks and art-focused CareKits before the first day of school. I built the Supplies for Success website from the ground up with the goal of giving the organization a digital presence that reflected the scale and importance of its mission. The site needed to make it easy for visitors to understand the organization, discover ways to contribute, participate in volunteer events, and ultimately see the tangible impact of their support. The project also carries a deeply personal connection. Eric Richenstein, Mindy’s son , and a great friend of mine who was also one of the organization’s earliest volunteers, tragically passed away in a ski accident in 2020. Eric was deeply committed to the mission of Supplies for Success, and we later created a dedicated section of the website to preserve his memory and celebrate his connection to the organization. For me, this project represents more than a website. It was an opportunity to help tell the story of an organization built on the belief that something as simple as a backpack can give a child confidence, dignity, and a more equal starting point.
